I heard about this 5k a couple weeks before the race and figured I might as well run it and it was a solid experience, I showed up to to this race at 7:40ish and I was the first person to get a bib. I went back to my car for little bit, waiting for more people to show up and drink some more water. At about 8:20 it did a warmup jog down the start of the course.
I did some light stretching after the warmup jog. Then soon lined up at the start of the course I chatted with a couple other runners who had done this course before and had similar goal times as me, Then at 9:03 one of the race directors counted down from 5 and blew a whistle and the race was off! For the first 0.15 I was in the lead pack but after that a couple people started to pull away, the race is a out and back so it was all downhill for the first 1.55 miles but then you have to go straight back up the hill you just came down so it's very easy to go out way to fast. So I stuck slightly behind the leading pack for the first 1.00 and only two people pasted me during the whole race. Once I got to the turn around, I was feeling the heat, but pushed on back up the hills they were pretty rough but it was motivating seeing all the people coming down the hill as I was going up. It was just one last push up the biggest hill then I took a right hand turn into the SPCA parking lot and got to have a Rice Krispie treat a refreshing bottle of water. The race was done very well and had a good turn out with a 181 runners/walkers finishing. My Strava says I finished with a time of 22:23 and the race's official timing says I finished with a 22:32.
I finished 11/181 runners. Strava GPX File
